Dear Edwin,
I am writing a book for Reaktion Press UK about bamboo. One chapter is devoted to animals dependent on bamboo. In the PBS Nature show, I saw a bamboo tube used by the indigenous people to store the sacred feathers. Do you by chance have a photo of this I could use? Many thanks, Susanne

Hi Edwin,
I am a student of the eCornell course on Courtship and Rivalry which has a great section of Birds of Paradise. Excellent videos, excellent work and thank you for giving the world a look into the secret life of these magnificent birds! Your dedication is something that will help all scientists. We need your priceless information to help understand the makings of birds and their behaviors. Keep up the good work!

I first learned about the Birds of Paradise through the Planet Earth DVD and was thoroughly intrigued. Now I am delighted that my introduction to birding through the eCornell course on behavior, and the resource links it offers, has given another tantalizing glimpse into this subject. From my perspective as a Senior Citizen and a casual observer of birds, I consider your commitment and passion for understanding the display behavior of these unique and beautiful birds to be a great gift to the world! Thank you for sharing so much information in an understandable way. I commend both your effort and the quality of your work and look forward to hearing about more of what you learn.

Birds of paradise really interest me, but this website really let me down. It has no information readily available. :-( Please improve.

Hi Edwin,

Excellent!!! At last a good up-to-date site on BoP. I hope to do a series of paintings featuring many of these birds and hope you can post more excellent photos and videos of the rarer species for reference material in the future. Have you, or do you intend to, photograph/ video the Arfak astrapia? As far as I know this species has not been photographed ever. What a wonderful choice of study material you have chosen. Please delight us further with your researches.

Good luck and best regards.
